I started yoga in October 2012 after a friend told me how she had started going to yoga classes and felt so much better. I’d really been struggling to keep up with a fitness regime that included 3-5 mile runs at least 3 times a week. For several months I had been experiencing joint pain and very sore muscles after every run. I loved exercise and particularly running. I’d ran three marathons and even completed a mini-triathlon. But I was approaching 50 and running was becoming difficult because of the pain I was experiencing. I decided to try yoga. I did not love it at first, but, I was curious enough to continue classes once a week. I took an Iyengar Yoga class and fell in love. In April 2013, I enrolled in UCR’s Fundamentals of Yoga certificate program that concentrates on the practice of Iyengar Yoga. After a year of attending these classes and several workshops, I knew I wanted to teach others about the benefits of yoga.
