Which twists are best for SI joint pain?

A supine, symmetrical twist (both knees bent) would be okay if the hips are kept even by placing a block or bolster between the knees. Rotation of the lumbar can be limited by blocking it – placing a bolster on each side for the legs to rest over on so the twist is not too deep – only if there is NO pain – otherwise, avoid a twist until the SI joint pain is not acute (in this case, apanasana repetitively to increase circulation to the lower back muscles, rolling bridge, supta baddha konasana bringing the legs together SLOWLY 3 times on exhales to increase circulation to the low back area….prone, repetitive back bends are also good to stabilize the SI joints and strengthen the musculature around them.)
